Insurance claims come flooding in after windstorm

DAVIDSON-Insurance offices were busy last week fielding calls about damages after the April 9 windstorm.

Most of the calls that came into his office were regarding damage to roofs, said Jason Shaw of Shaw Agencies.

The wind was very strong, gusting to about 100 kilometres per hour. Other damage around Davidson included felled trees and fallen branches. Some fences were blown over and siding was stripped off buildings.

Out in the country, aside from shingles being blown off roofs, the wind also blew over grain bins and snapped off road signs.

Shaw said given the strength of the wind and the length of time it was blowing, he was surprised there wasn't more damage.

There appeared to be no rhyme or reason in the wind's path of destruction.

He said it was strange how one person's property was damaged, yet their neighbour's was fine.

Many people spent the days after the storm cleaning their yards and disposing of debris and broken branches.
