Cyclist hits deer on Highway 11 during morning ride

LUMSDEN - A cyclist was injured after colliding with a deer while out riding along Highway 11 in the Lumsden Valley on Monday morning.
Lumsden RCMP reported that the lone cyclist, a man in his late 60s, was travelling northbound at a high rate of speed when two deer crossed the road in front of him. Unable to steer away, he collided with one of them.
The police responded to the call at around 8:45 a.m. The man suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Regina by ambulance for treatment.
The deer fled from the scene when police arrived, and the extent of its injuries is not known.
